The situation
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville - College of Nursing utilizes CORE ELMS for their graduate nursing program, which includes family nurse practitioners and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners. Prior to CORE, the program faced challenges with scheduling, prompting the search for a more effective solution. CORE ELMS stood out by offering the unique ability to log in as a student, allowing faculty to view everything from the student’s perspective. This feature, along with robust reporting capabilities for tracking clinical hours and evaluations, has been particularly valuable.
The College of Nursing has also benefited from CORE's responsiveness to their needs. They have requested and received additional features such as running reports on procedures and adding pediatric patient tracking, which CORE has accommodated seamlessly. The comprehensive view of student information on a single screen has streamlined their processes, significantly saving time, especially in approving clinical contracts and tracking hours.

The solution
I like that I can pull up a student’s account and see everything they have done clinically in one place - where they've been, how many hours have been confirmed, who their clinical faculty is.
I think that has definitely saved time, especially for example, preceptors can submit their hours to their recertification application and this involves a form that I complete. I can quickly see how many precepting hours were completed with one look at that preceptors file. I love it!
I like that we can see all ends of it - we can see from the preceptor perspective, the faculty perspective, and the student perspective, depending on the log in view in ELMS. That has saved a lot of time."
