Making Pre-Licensure Placements and Scheduling More Manageable: Lessons From Emory University

Broadcast on September 23, 2026

Spend Less Time Managing the Moving Pieces of Placements & Scheduling.

Pre-licensure clinical scheduling gets complicated quickly. Placements, clinical instructors, student schedules, absences, make-up experiences, clinical hours, and ongoing changes all add layers of coordination throughout the semester.

At Emory University's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, the nursing team has developed an approach that makes those moving pieces easier to manage, reduces manual coordination, and provides better access to the information needed as schedules evolve.

Join Valencia King BA, LPN, CHSOS, Director of Simulation Operations, Keisa Grant DNP-C, MSN, AGCNS, RN-BC, Manager, Clinical Education and Catherine William MPA, Associate Director of Clinical Placements for Prelicensure Nursing and WOCNEP Programs from Emory's School of Nursing, alongside Colin Treanor from CORE by PeopleGrove, for a 30-minute conversation about how their team approaches clinical scheduling from semester planning through the changes that happen once clinical experiences are underway.

Using examples from Emory's own processes, Catherine, Keisa, and Valencia will share how their team plans and builds clinical schedules, coordinates students and clinical instructors, manages changes and make-up experiences, and keeps clinical hours and reporting organized throughout the semester.

What You’ll Learn:
